Most of us here have a practical background, having spent many years in the practice of a meditative method or art (e.g., qigong, yoga, taijiquan, etc). It is true that having a practice is essential for growth and learning. And yet, many seem to gloss over the role of knowledge.

There are two kinds of knowledge -- one that is taught to us by another (such as a teacher, friend or some other medium -- book, etc). Let us call this "external knowledge" or "indirect knowledge".

The other is the knowledge that is directly known -- usually as a result of a regular and diligent practice of the method of our choice. Let us call this "internal knowledge" or "direct knowledge".

I've seen many practitioners of spiritual arts scoff at the external knowledge because it is considered somehow inferior to the "directly" known, internal knowledge that is supposed to be the fruit of our (glorious/valiant/heroic/add your own adjective here) efforts. And yet, we would not have embarked upon the path of our choice if we didn't have an external source of knowledge to guide us throughout our journey.

It is quite possible that some people, due to their karmic influence are easily able to enter into deep meditative states. But that may not result in full awakening, without proper initiation into the external knowledge. The reason being, when the deep meditative states (samādhi) are entered, there is no mind involved (or minimal mind is involved). While repeated immersion into these deep states can result in thinning of the modifications of the mind, the mind still remains functional once one exits from such states.

In the vedantic tradition, the entry into samadhi is called "mano laya" (or pausing of the mind). This is considered an intermediate stage of spiritual evolution. Once the practitioner exits from the samadhi, the mind resumes its functioning (perhaps with not as much vim and vigor as it did prior, but it generally tends to gather steam and pick up from where it left off eventually).

The only way to cause what in vedanta is called "mano nāsha" (mind cessation) is to deliberately and methodically work with the external knowledge (as taught by the teachers and texts) and go through a process of intellectual assimilation. The mind has four components, namely the ego, the thought field, the storehouse of memories and impression and the intellect. For knowledge to be integrated, it has to be worked on with the cooperation of the mind (ego-thought field-storehouse-intellect).

Key among them is the intellect. Whatever the intellect identifies with, the ego will do its level best to protect/maintain that. If the intellect identifies with the body, the ego will strive to maintain that identification. If the intellect identifies with the mind, ego will strive to maintain that identification. Therefore, the intellect needs to come onboard with the process of spiritual development. Once the intellect is onboard, all the other components of the mind will follow its lead. So with the study and contemplation on the external knowledge using the intellect, the intellect needs to be convinced of its 'place' in the grand scheme of things.

When the intellect understands completely that it is merely a function of the mind, and that the mind is nothing but a process arising in awareness, the intellect will gradually relinquish its need to identify with anything. It might initially start by giving up identification with the body and the mind.

Typically the intellect latches onto the idea of being "The Non-dual Self/Awareness". And it is a far better proposition that being identified with the body/mind. Then the seeker wants to constantly abide in this "non-dual awareness". Of course, life usually has other plans, so the feeling of non-duality, and the feeling of duality keep coming and going, oscillating between the two phases at regular intervals. This leads to great frustration in the intellect of the practitioner. And then one day the realization occurs, that what we truly are, is aware of both the duality and non-duality that seems to arise in the mind. And on that day, the intellect gives up completely, and the ego disappears, as it has nothing to defend anymore. This results in a fully non-grasping mind, essentially a mind that has ceased to operate as it used to before spiritual practice started. And therein is the direct knowledge or internal knowledge, which is nothing but that which is aware of both the apparent duality and non-duality.

Been going into this a bit more with some friends of mine (who I'm meditating with every day). As is expected, most of us have preconceived notions about our "true nature" and how complex or how simple "attaining/realizing that" would be.

Because usually as beginners we start with a method, and then as time progresses, we go on to more methods (more in number, more in complexity, more in details), it is, therefore, natural to assume/expect that the "truth" can only be attainable by an immense feat of effort, which would entail some immensely complicated method (or combination of methods), and that, (methods and truth) are as of yet unattainable to us.

The natural instinct is to think, "I'm not good enough for this...I don't deserve to know the truth, because I'm not disciplined enough/I've not put in enough time and effort into it yet/and or variations of such notions."

Also along with the above assumption, it is quite natural to expect that the Truth will be immensely complicated too. I mean, this is the truth behind our entire manifest universe of infinite complexity and variety...how can it less complicated than it's 'sum total'? It only has to be more.

To exacerbate this, we also have an ecosystem around the spiritual teachings, being passed down through time which romanticize the truth as being a earth-shattering, sky-exploding fruit of extreme valor/labor/effort/etc etc. The truth is indeed is earth-shattering and world-exploding, but not because it is complicated. It is so because it is so simple, so simply ordinary that we never consider it as being the truth.

So when a friend of mine objected to the notion that we are all, already the truth (Self) and no effort is needed to "become" that, I had to ask this oft-repeated question. "How far do you have to travel, to become your Self? How long do you have to try, in order to become your Self?"

The Self/True Nature/etc etc is right here and right now. There is no where to go, nothing to do to attain it from outside. All we have to do, is let go of the concepts and labels we cling to, and we'll find ourselves resting in our true Nature.

I say all these things, as I consider taking a pilgrimage and leaving home. Who knows for how long, or what I am even doing. But I suppose I should start at the beginning:

Life for me has been a strange one...

I grew up close to my two older brothers, in a tumultuous household filled with alcohol and expectations of success. Over time, these issues patched themselves and the goals that seemed so impossible, and foreign were achieved. I got into a nice college, so did my two older brothers; likely will my two younger brothers. Yet the journey there was filled with depression, forced action, and general loneliness.

I expected change in college; and I got it. A new life with bright prospects, in a place where I could meld into normal. And yet "depression" and loneliness came again. In classes I saw the lie of certainty being spread wherever I looked, in how things must always be done a certain way. In enjoyment, I found myself disgusted or alien to experiences. And in life, I saw how empty it all was. So I began to see the world as no different from a dream and instead preferred my dreams where I encountered pleasant lessons and adventures. This made it acceptable for me to become decadent and degenerate as I would try to fill that void with whatever worked: Pornography, video games, music, entertainment, even alcohol at some point (tho I'm glad I hated the taste and never picked it up again). At some point in that year, I saw a book on Daoism; read it for a moment then gave up.

While my grades weren't the best, I ended up doing well enough to stay in college. With my older brother being in a similar boat, we both resolved to fix ourselves. Workouts, reading good books, removing unhealthy habits, and pursuing creative projects... One of which was a tech startup with fellow students, to which I'm unsure will ever get finished. The void never really went away, but I tried to work my way through it. An interesting experience that summer, was when I visited Pakistan and saw my parents' home country; I expected beauty and something foreign, but instead I could only see the same that was back at home.

I had consider myself grown a lot, and I had. I was stronger, smarter, and more productive than ever. So when the next year of college came around things started off very smoothly, but... they quickly came to a halt. I found myself in the same boat as my first year of college; in fact I had never really solved the issues, I had just tried to make the idealizations of success add something to life. So I ended up not doing so well, and left college on the pretense of medical leave. I resolved to make myself better so I could feel that success, for some reason i thought that if I could grasp onto some tangible success things would be better. So, with my older brother (once again), we both worked on our qualities more. More working out, more additions of good habits, complete removal of vices, etc. Yet the emptiness never went away, I was just working past it. I quickly realized as well, that this ambition to go from A -> B would kill me, given time.

So while keeping with the good habits, I came to trying to find the beauty in being 'A' and achieve inner peace. In a way, I found it. I realized the silent nature of reality and how when one stopped looking for the bright colors and merriment, they would notice the beauty that was already around them. It was truly a beautiful moment, one that rarely leaves me as well. Yet, I still found myself drawn to the mystical, and by chance I stumbled on the forum daobums. I lurked around for a day or two... then created an account. This was around February so no one was there to approve it, and I found myself searching for answers. By luck, I stumbled upon the feature to message users without a verified account and I started to ask users directly. The most notable of which being Dwai, who gave me valuable insights and corrected my misconceptions. To this day, I consider him a mentor of sorts...

I can't quite remember which came first, the messages on daobums, or me reading the works of Nan Huai Chin, but regardless I found myself fascinated by the ideas of Samadhi, Enlightenment, Siddhis, etc. It quickly became a large part of my life with frequent meditations and readings. It felt like I was finally approaching the final step. And while my older brother didn't approve much of my belief of "false reality", I quickly found myself believing in it through blind faith. Yet, after a month had passed I became disheartened by the lack of results.

So, I meditated even more frequently and went into periods of heavy seclusion. Where I would spend the day mostly meditating, with this habit going on for weeks. I remember feeling tired, focused, but also invigorated. I felt energetic sensations and the so on more and more. However, at some point, I realized I had been pushing myself and decided to take things more slowly. I reintegrated into life and things were pretty mellow. I ended up being idle for a bit, but it was in this period of idleness that I made many of my actual realizations. After which, I resumed my reading of various topics like the law of attraction, quantum physics, and ancient wisdom. I began to not just know but understand, and for brief moments I understood how time didn't exist and the true nature of reality; though it slowly slipped away. And then the void was no longer "the void" but the truth. I for once understood how blessed and lucky I was, how I was given everything I ever asked for and more. I began to see the union of everything and the truth of consciousness; with at many times when another spoke to me, it felt like I was talking to myself. Time started to stretch and dreams became like realities once again. The intensity of a pressure in the middle of my forehead began to evolve into pain and heavier pressure. All at once, the rigidity of the world began to fall away.

But these realization's... they made me truly dispassionate. I no longer see meaning to wealth, fame, looks, relationships, etc but I live surrounded in a world where thats all that matters. In some ways I wish i could be "normal" but I honestly can't find meaning in those things anymore. Right now... I'd want nothing more than to be alone and for once truly explore. So I feel it now, the moment for me to set off on a pilgrimage and explore in seclusion. To travel without home, to find gratitude when I have nothing, and to truly experience the walkway towards the truth.

Will my family, friends, and associates worry/blame/hate? Maybe... but I will at least let them know, and then I will be gone. I don't know how long it will be, only the universe/god knows the answer.

Tomorrow is my birthday, I'll be 20 then. The day after, May 20th 2020, is the day I'll make the final decision whether I leave or not.

If I leave, I must say that I really enjoyed talking with you all... I might still hop in from time to time but it seems like it will be a solo journey for a while.

On the other hand, who knows, maybe I won't go on the pilgrimage at all and this will be a post I look back to and we discuss. But I worry about that scenario (funny that I worry about leaving too), as it feels like if I keep ignoring the things I know; I will eventually die. Maybe not physically, but this lifetime... would become a wait to the next rebirth.

Many of you might be familiar, many not; with an idea in Western esoterica called the Law of Attraction, or rather the person behind it: Neville Goddard. However, I'm sure its sprouted out and implied in many faiths and philosophies. Regardless of the source, the general premise is that you can have anything you want by simply becoming the you that already has it. So lets say you wish for a better job, just imagine the version of you that has the better job, then shift that onto yourself believing you are now that version.

So okay... sounds simple enough and fairly interesting as well. I'm of the belief that this isn't the way, but its at least somewhat related. At the very least, it can at least aid you in landing into a better physical world scenario so that you can explore more... The simple idea in itself was very intriguing to me and inevitably I wanted to play with what seemed to be a very simple tool.

So, I practiced and read the techniques, of which there are many. Some have to do with mirrors and jumping to dimensions, some deal with drinking glasses of water, some with just feeling, etc... It really goes on. After familiarizing such techniques, I was able to practice with smaller things that made sense to me. Say, for a week I was setting up a fence, and during so I got a lot of bites, primarily tick bites. Now ticks tend to bite into you and their teeth can be stuck inside the bites causing months of itching and discomfort. So i simply manifested the me that didn't have those bites, a few days pass and since then most of the bites have gone away and I barely feel an itch. The list of small things like that is still growing... but anything thats large and is actively denied by what we percieve... thats a difficult one. Say I'd like to manifest that "I am rich". Well my bank account says otherwise, if I was rich why would I be living here, it's been days and nothing has happened, why would this even work?, etc
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Now this left me quite a few questions:
- First off, how do these manifestations work? That was answered partially by the fact that we are infinite and reality is actually just a mirror of our perception but there is more to it

- Secondly, why do these manifestations take time? Why is it that it may take weeks before you start to see massive sudden changes in your life? This relates to the first question....

- Thirdly, how can I keep my belief that something is so, when my perception says otherwise (bank account is empty, etc)? How does that belief even effect reality and why is that things seem to stop shifting as soon as I lose belief? Partially that can be explained by our infinite selves and how reality is like a dream... but there's more to that answer

- Fourthly, this seems to tie into magic as a general principle. Now how does that work?

-And Fifthly, This seems like an awesome way to train one's belief in themselves and truly experience their infinite self before the years of meditation. Furthermore, it seems like a great philosophy to live a mundane life: "Don't chase the world, but let the world chase you". Okay, so cool... But how do I optimize it so that it makes sense not just for me, but for other beginners?

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

So I'd been practicing with the idea of belief through the methods and in general for a month or so, and while doing so I encountered various specific issues as well as various research topics. Considering that I had no background in magic really nor any magical abilities, those research topics were all science related. It took a while but mostly out of luck... I found my hook which I could start explaining things by: Quantum Physics. Even better, there's even a concept in Quantum Physics that displays the sheer power of perception and how it can effectively place us into parallel realities. The concept I'm referring to is called "Aharonov's Sphere of Many Radii", where a time machine works by using external stimuli and mechanics to shift the time travelers perception consistently. I'll talk more about this at the end, but if you're interested I'd reccomend reading about it. I'll also talk about the Many worlds theory near the end.

I'll give a brief overview of the method however:
The only manifesting that you do in this method, is make it be so that a coin flip can decide a course of events. The rest is enforced by the coin, whether you like it or not. This means that you can manifest anything, no matter how big or small, without having to actually do the manifesting of that yourself. While you might have to give a little push to the coin... The coin does all the work. Furthermore, the coin method isn't about power. Its about understanding every component and just learning how jumping works. Its a wonderful teacher...

So here's how things will be organized. I'll state the process of the actual reality shifting/manifesting. Then I'll give my findings about why it works and other components connected to it. Then I'll briefly explain some quantum physics, though my information of quantum physics won't be too solid. The questions above will be answered throughout what I write, but never really specifically addressed.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Enough of the intro, here we go!:

1. Find what you want and put it in the form of a “I am” state. , then find the opposite.
Ex: “I am filthy rich” while the opposite would be “I am poor”

Then find an object, ideally a coin, and assign a state to each side of the coin.

It’s probably important to visualize a feeling with what each state would feel like as you assign each to a side but don’t worry too much because that’s just not the mechanics I’m basing this practice working on.

Ex: heads represents “I am poor”, tails represents “I am filthy rich”

I like to add a bit more onto each statement but I’m unsure how necessary it is. You might see why adding the extra statement is helpful though as we get further into the practice.

Ex: heads is “I am poor, and if I am not I will be”, tails is “I am filthy rich, and if I am not I will be”

Now once you've assigned a state to each side, try to really feel the emotions behind each state, as if it was actually you. "I am filthy rich" might represent a feeling of excitement and freedom while "I am poor" might be sadness and weight. Do this for a few minutes and switch between each state, back and forth. This isn't so necessary for this practice to work but its really good practice for conscious control of perspective; I'm unsure about this, but it could also assign more significance to the coin-flip whenever its done.

2. Do whatever manifestation technique you like, and believe that the next coin flip, from this coin, really will decide your state of being, etc. If you're confused about a manifestation technique, just mentally accept that you are now in a reality where that is so, and it is done. Don't desire a reality where that is so, simply be in the reality where it is so.

3. Go into a dark place or prepare so you won’t be able to immediately see which side the coin has landed. The darkness, or whatever setup you have to block observation of the result will allow you to really ponder the idea of the "Principle of Complementarity" and the depth of what you're about to do.

4.Now you can flip the coin. Don’t observe the results yet, just flip it then try to understand the what's written below. If you already understand whats below, then you can just brief over the idea and continue on.

In quantum physics, all small particles ,and I'll sneakily extend this to all large objects as well because the small particles are the building blocks of the large objects, are possibility-waves. Effectively, a possibility wave is not just a single particle but all the possible places/things that particle/result could be. In the context of infinite universes (many worlds theory), this means that a possibility-wave can be literally anything. Hence the ideas of Schrodinger's cat, etc. Ex: You don't know if there's a cat in a closed box because you haven't observed into the box.

Now back to your perspective: By you observing these infinite possibility waves, you have turned them into a set probability, typically meaning that you'll see a chair 100% in the corner of a room(which you also created). And the chair will always be there unless your perspective has changed, which could be through the chair being moved, an action, or a manifestation of some sort. If you're already familiar with the law of attraction, you may have heard people say that you're already constantly switching realities and manifesting; well this is what they mean, only its usually a jump for a small mundane reason. Now this is something that is really really freaky... It's something I literally just realized as well. Time doesn't exist. Its all a snapshot, and what you're actually doing is jumping from snapshot to snapshot, thousands of times every moment. That movement only happens because your perception makes it so. I kid you not that was a sudden realization and at this moment I'm really freaked out now... I can't explain it anymore than that, its just kind of an understanding I can't forget anymore.

I took some time to calm myself down, Back to it though: So effectively, awareness towards something means a loss of knowledge since you can no longer see all the things that a possibility-wave can be. I find this concept really cool because it ties into a lot of spirituality a ton. This effect is called "The Principle of Complementarity". What's scary about this, is that we end up creating a feedback loop where our reality feels solid when in actuality it just isn't at all. That point that I just made, while not a scientific theory (at least known to me), is something that is spoke of again and again in spiritual texts. This reality isn't as it seems....

Before we get into that lengthy topic: What you've done already is that you've found this coin and shifted your perspective of what used to be a meaningless coin roll to a coin roll that decided the possibility-wave of your state of being. Already, what has happened now, is that you've already shifted to a basically identical reality where the results for this current coin flip decide your state of being. And now, you've flipped it... Well yikes. But the good thing is that by Quantum Physics, it remains a possibility until you observe the coin. So really, the result hasn't be decided yet. Let that sink in. What it implies is that you are not independent from the event which you observe. Even further, a reality cannot exist without an observer, and an observer cannot exist without a reality.

So an optional step, is for you to consider what would happen now that you're in a reality where this coin flip effects your state of being and you landed a tails. Well judging by the example, your state of being in this reality, is now doomed to be "I am poor". Yikes! But consider that there's also the chance that you rolled a heads. You don't know, and if you did: that possibility of the coin flip would become a probability.

4. It might be scary now to observe the result of the coin, now that its implications are so heavy; however, I ask to you to look at it regardless. If its good, then awesome; but if its not good... Well, this is why I really like this exercise because its a lot like training wheels on a bike that just teach you so much (if you didn't know them already but thats fine). I want you to remember who gave the coin that push, its power in this reality: you did. Like a child playing a game, if things go awry you can just do it again. Nothing, and I mean nothing is stopping you from assigning that same power to the coin and repeating the flip until you get to the desired spot.

And on that point I want to address a scenario:

“Oh no! I dropped that coin by accident and it landed on tails so now I am poor!!”

Haha, as funny (and horrifying) as that sounds, no. You create reality, you set the rules. The safer, and much better rule is that the process only works for this current/next roll of the coin flip. If you're worried that the coin might still have that power, even though you set the rule that it was only for one flip, then this: The coin only has that power for one flip because thats how it is. If you want a scientific reason, well just consider that usually a coin doesn’t decide whether you become rich or poor and it only has the power that power for one flip, which is already an odd thing, in this reality.

5. Now, I'm assuming that you have the desired coin side. That's it. Whether you believe that "I am rich" or not doesn't matter anymore. You shifted your reality to one where the coin had the power to change your reality. Now that the coin was flipped it moved you to another reality where it is true; that's it. It's hard to fathom but you just made a parallel reality machine with a coin.

Now, If you ever want to change things again, you can flip the same/a different coin with the same process or or even now just do the manifestation directly. The purpose of the coin exercise is not to only allow easy manifestation where something else does most the work, but also serve as training wheels so you no longer need the coin.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Well that’s it then. You completed the process. But if you want to hear further about some of my beliefs; as well as give me some pointers on places I may be wrong, read below:

I’ll go further into the concept of manifestation. Effectively, going by the many worlds theory, there are infinite realities. While the many worlds theory is very much speculation, it can’t really be disproved or proved, but hell its existence fixes a lot of paradoxes. I myself believe in it because it ties into a lot of ancient mysticism. But If that turns you off you can ignore this explanation, it isn’t so necessary for what you’re doing to work. Otherwise, consider that you are living in one of infinite realities and all the things you’ve experienced make it seem like the die of infinite realities was rolled and said you are in “reality 982”. You have this job, this lifestyle, this car, etc. But you are never stuck in 982 nor was the die ever really rolled, you’re just in 982 because you keep observing from the same perspective and therefore keep seeing the same probabilities, thus resulting in the same job, events, blah, etc. Understand that this primarily happens because our thoughts are molded by our actions, and our action modes by our thoughts. Here’s a good prayer that goes into this concept, and other delusions

(from Vasitha’s Yoga):

——————————————————————

Salutations to that reality in which all the elements, and all the animate and inanimate beings shine as if they have an independent existence, and in which they exist for a time and into which they merge.

Salutations to that consciousness which is the source of the apparently distinct threefold divisions of knower, knowledge and known, seer, sight and seen, doer, doing and deed.

Salutations to that bliss absolute (the ocean of bliss) which is the life of all beings whose happiness and unfoldment is derived from the shower of spray from that ocean of bliss.

——————————————————————

Back to topic: This behavior of actions effecting thoughts and thoughts effecting actions is just a massive feedback loop which confirms your reality. Ever wonder why the world was so much more magical when you were a kid? Well it actually was, for the very reason that your perspective wasn’t solid, it was malleable.

But back to it: When you manifest, or do any kind of magic(I’m not really that familiar with magic so I could be wrong about this) for that matter, you’re jumping out of your usual perspective and setting a PROBABILITY usually before you observe the POSSIBILITY. Usually that probability is very quickly defined by your usual perspective, which turns these possibility waves ,which could be almost anything, into the same things again and again, everyday.

But With manifestation/magic, you don’t have to know the dimension number or anything else, just one aspect of that reality. Once you make that apply that aspect to your perspective(ex I am rich), your awareness will slowly shift to that reality or a reality that contains that aspect. Some people can do it through simple belief, while we’ve achieved it with a coin. Now that you’ve taken on that aspect onto your perspective of reality, those possibilities which used to always be the same probabilities because your old perspective, finally change. On scientific terms, all the possibility waves related to the ex of “I am rich” are trying to confirm the already made observation/probability that “I am rich”. So everyday ,as you observe more objects, the physical world shifts more and more to match your new perspective. Till boom, by 3 weeks you definitely start to notice the changes. Spiritually, I believe this is only possible because we ourselves are infinite and exist in all realities so moving from one to the other is no issue. The issue just lies in the fact that we’ve forgotten our infinite nature and instead take on a personal awareness which exists in cause and effect... that in itself isn’t bad, just don’t demean how special you are. But if you can’t really fathom that or don’t care too much about this philosophy, think about this: the die of infinite realities, you have the possibility to reroll it. In the case of the coin exercise, we are filtering infinity to the just realities with the choices you care about. Ex “I am rich” or “I am poor”. Pause for a moment(if you care too haha) and think about how massive of a scale you’re working at, with some simple thought and flipping a coin you’ve changed universes. That is your power... it’s almost inconceivable right? But it’s true.

As part of being able to separate substantial and insubstantial, a great practice is what is called the Mother Meditation. The practice gains its name from the idea of a mother and child walking together. The mother leads the way and the child follows. How that applies in taiji meditation is as follows --

We start with manifesting a taiji ball between our two palms (like holding a beachball between our palms, in front of our chest for example).

After manifesting a taiji ball, the ball needs to be split into two. Now instead of holding a beachball, we have two basketball sized taiji balls, one in each palm (or for beginners split from a single basketball sized taiji ball into two softball sized taiji balls).

Assign one ball the role of ‘Mother’ and the other ‘Child’. Now in a form like ‘long and short hand’,

in even stance (not bow and arrow), let the Mother lead and the child follow.

From side to side it goes. If this is done correctly and the two balls are ‘talking’ to each other, the child ball (and therefore the hand attached to the child ball) will automatically start to follow the mother. After a few repetitions, reverse the roles of Mother and Child.

After getting a proper grasp of the above, reverse the roles now, so that the mother drives the child (and switching roles). So instead of the child following the mother, the mother will drive the child.

This kind of practice is very important in order to be able to do martial techniques, but also to be able to clearly be able to tell the substantial (mother) from the insubstantial (child).

The two distinct phases of the practice, work on using the yang power to manifest the yin power. When the power manifests in application on the insubstantial side, it generates empty force or mysterious force!

Later on, the rotate oar meditation forms are empowered using this very concept of mother meditation.

The following video demonstrates how mother meditation can be practiced in a two-person context.

There's an interesting point to make on how faith changes the brain:

"As we practice things again and again, faith changes the brain. What we wish to appear, usually will appear. If we let it, this phenomenon can play tricks on us."

While this point is a good point for discussion itself, thinking upon this opened a realization towards me.

The first is the distinction from Western arts to Eastern arts. From my readings (which is pretty shallow so please correct me if I get stuff wrong), most Western arts are result oriented with very active interaction like trying to feel the aether or focusing on the forehead to open the minds eye. Eastern arts tend to be unconcerned with results and seem to repeat the word "practice". While this would likely give results more slowly, it would ensure very few diversions.

The second is in mundane practice and mystical practice. Mundane practice is fairly common in Eastern arts. Its where you would do things that require no mystical ability like watching the breath or standing in a relaxed manner; in a way, visualizations also go into this category. Mystical practice is fairly common in Western arts. Its where you would do things that cultivate/require mystical ability. Things like feeling the aether where you get a push/pull feedback pretty quickly and then expand that sensation.

Where have you guys seen these distinctions or not seen them? What are some interesting arts that you guys have heard of, that might tread a dangerous line?

Generally, I feel like this is a super important topic as a lot of beginners might originally turn towards the spiritual path with escapism or biases. Either of those things + Psychosis doesn't seem like a good combo...

What tends to get people, myself included, is that the mystical seems so foreign that it requires really foreign behavior; this really gives a strong push towards more flashy stuff.

But from my understanding, if one wants to play things safe, it is better to follow mundane practice. As a bonus, mundane practice tends to cultivates merit for doing something simple like watching the breath can point out many of our personal flaws (impatience, indulgences, etc).

I understand that this isn't a concern for everyone though, just a lot of the younger generation (like myself) are worried about treading on self fabricated paths or simply playing with the brain.
