So here I sit, sequestered, alone in the dark, and nobody loves me.  I think I'll eat some worms.   ?

???

(crickets are crunchier)

@silent_thunder  - take the 405 north to the 10.  Take the 10 east to Palm Springs 111.  Then to Cathedral city.  I have tea and cookies.

You are loved, you are loving,.... you are LOVE

It is interesting to watch these temporary waves of emotion washing through.

I've had quite a bit of that in recent weeks.

We are living through some profoundly traumatizing times.

The more open and sensitive we are, the more we can expect a more immediate reaction.

I think people who are not practitioners, who are not as open and sensitive, are doing a lot of suppressing and repressing right now and will have quite a lot to process in the months and years ahead.

I don't know why there was so much space in my last post.  I tried to delete the space and it wouldn't delete.  The little flashing typing indicator on the page wouldn't stay still - it kept going down, down, down without me doing anything; it did it on its own.

Thank you for your good wishes.  I'm just fine - the alone and sitting in the dark thing was from an old movie I can't remember the name of.  And something about wanting an eclair.

@manitou That reminds me of a joke:

How many Jewish Grandmothers does it take to replace a light bulb?

w/ Yiddish accent- "It's okay.  I'll just sit here, in the dark, all alone, waiting for my children to call me..".

So..none, they guilt there kids into coming and doing it.  Even though, its not needed, since we did it last week, they forgetting to flip the light switch and turn the lamp on.

It is really interesting how this whole crisis takes a toll on one. And you don't even have to live in the worst affected part of the world. Here in Czechia we are doing quite well and are on our way to reopen. It is just the constant flood of news and articles and messages. It is really too much. I was lucky enough to spend last weekend at my teacher's center (taking care of the property, since most of my sangha is from Austria and I am the only one with access to go there) and I cannot tell how blissful it was to be completely off grid for 3 days. No news, no pc, no tv. Only my practice, some small work and making sure to have a lunch ready. But there was a price to pay, I feel so tired now when I am back in the current.

Can I ask who is your teacher and where is the center?

@steve Yes, for sure. Drubpon Khonchok Khandro Rinpoche-la. We are the only Drikung Center in Czech Republic and it was founded by Austrian tulku of Tsa Ugh Dorje, Armin-la. We are located in Vratěnín village, "U Zlaté Hvězdy" (At golden star).

Thank you, sounds wonderful. I'll need to read up about your teachers a bit. I'm fairly ignorant about Buddhism and Buddhist teachers in general outside my own little Bön family.

No problem. Yeah, good thing to start with is the documentary Yogis of Tibet, it is filled with Drikung Kagyu teachers. And Garchen Rinpoche streams teachings for free quite regularly. So, there is plenty to learn about it from. ?  It is really beautiful lineage, anyway I could go on and on about this as you might go about bön. ?

Hands on our gal, breathing in sync while I ran Wang Liping's five organ circuit and pore breathing.  Over time we gently coaxed her parasympathetic nervous response and got some calm in her body.  Eased her breathing a bit and abated some of the coughing.  She slept upright that night and by morning the fever had broken and the coughing had eased to my delight.  Two days later, the coughing subsided completely and a day after that, it was like she'd never been sick at all.

I have been meaning to reply to this and was wondering if it is a practice you could describe here on this site as I am certain their are those present who should be able to perform this if the need arises and any flawed effort is better than none at all. In fact it sounds like a wonderfully therapeutic practice.

On another note I was talking to my younger brother today,  his wife is a traveling in home care nurse that treats open wounds etc... and very tight with the medical community here. He informed me that according to her we are not getting all the facts and that the Corona Virus is far more wide spread and much more dangerous than we are being told and the deaths are much higher than what is being reported. His advice to me was work from home as much as you can.

As for myself I have no intention of following any premature unnecessary activity and will wait to watch the numbers rise over the next two weeks especially in Georgia. Today is Wednesday 2020/04/29 let us see what the story is in the next two weeks to a month.

Lol my hair is getting long, I threatened recently to return to my preferred hair cut which is pretty close to bald, I have a full head of black hair and only a little wisp of gray at the temples next to the ears, I just prefer none at all. My S.O. however does not soooo.... Looks like it will be getting longer yet 🙂

Hey there.  I'm with you in not believing that we are receiving accurate info from media and health org's...  I stopped participating in watching/reading news regularly years ago, to great benefit.  Having returned to regular news consumption during this process, it is remarkable and startling to me how much of what is presented as news, is pure speculation.  Such is life I guess...

As for the breath work we did as a family it is/was very basic. Normally we hold hands and sit in a circle and breath as one.  Loving intention through touch and breath, creating a coherent field of combined awareness/presence.  Then affecting that cohesion from my pivot.

In this case we had our gal sit comfortably on the floor and then Son and I sat behind her with our hands on her back.  We sat there for some minutes while coming together in mind and presence, connecting through loving touch and breathing without thought.

After a time, I asked my son to start synching his breath to Mom's.

When I felt her constriction loosen and the parasympathetic response begin to bring calm to her body and mind... their breathing was deeply in synch, I then shifted from holding space to actively following their rhythm and began pore breathing with intent.  In breath drawn to the core of the LDT.  Out breath encompassed our collective presence and home space.

After a time of this, breathing our collective presence in through the skin and pulsing my intention out to them encompassing us all and our home, I shifted, stoked the fire and began cycling energy through the five organ circuit working from the premise of 'As Within, Without'.  Allowing the ease of breathing in my son and I to reach out and affect her.

What is within me is reflected outside of me. Knowing all is one and working from the premise that creating the effect I wished to see reflected in her, within me first.

In our case, my bodymind was the focus for my son and I to relfect our ease of breathing into her through our connection.

For her, it was all about sitting comfortably and breathing as slow and softly as possible to induce the parasympathetic response to loosed conscrictive tension and bring ease.

It was quite effective.  Her coughing ceased after some minutes and by the end of the process she was deeply relaxed and slept that night deeply and comfortably, waking rested.  She turned the corner and recovered quite quickly.

It was an instinctual move, arising in the moment and followed without hesitation.  The clear image arose to trigger the parasympathetic response by bringing her breathing into mindlessness.  I recalled Wang Liping's instruction about the power of pore breathing to create a field within one's home that can affect, nurture and protect all within it.

We are all healthy now and thoroughly enjoying our time in isolation.  Music, games, movies, books, cooking... once our gal turned the corner and recovered, it's been blissful.

I'm referring to this as 'The Health Retreat of 2020'.

We each are quite content being home.  We miss hiking and museums and The Gardens and restauranting... but thoroughly relish each other's company and this time coccooned from the outer processes of modern busy life is a blessing.
